Body Image, Body Wisdom Series
Nourishing ourselves has become confusing for so many of us. Media and consumer culture sends powerful messages suggesting that we can only be loved, healthy, successful, or happy if we look a certain way; that food can replace love, happiness, joy and connection; and that fake foods isn't addictive. As a result, 75 percent of women in America reported disordered eating behaviors. 53 percent of dieters are already at a healthy weight and are still trying to lose weight. 39 percent of women say concerns about what they eat or weigh interfere with their happiness.
Hating or obsessively focusing on changing our body robs women of their power, joy, and birthright. And it doesn't have to be this way. Finding freedom takes honesty, compassion, patience, and some guiding support, but we can find more freedom and actually learn to accept, if not love, this amazing body we've been given.
